Reverend Jonathan Rodgers, a lifelong resident of Memphis, is pastor of Evangel Temple Church, which he founded in 1999.  Prior to establishing this church and ministry, Pastor/Evangelist Jonathan Rodgers was pastor and founder of Bethel Temple Church of God In Christ, Memphis, Tennessee for 30 years.

Evangelist Rodgers, a minister since the age of fifteen, has traveled extensively in Mexico, Trinidad, Canada, Europe, Africa and across the United States, speaking in youth rallies, evangelistic crusades, and mission conferences.  He is known throughout the country for his "Restoration Revival" and "Living Word" tent crusades conducted under the 3,000 seat, gospel tent that had their beginning in 1962 in Memphis Rev. Rodgers has also ministered for over thirty-five years via radio and television in Memphis and other cities.

Pastor Jonathan Rodgers was the first African-American with a daily broadcast over one of the major gospel radio stations in Memphis in the mid 60's and the first to conduct a major crusade in 1967, at the city auditorium, which drew integrated crowds.  He also conducted the "Miracle Day" Crusade, held at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, in 1979, which drew over 5,000 people and many souls made a decision for Christ.  His prophetic voice, resonating over the airways and the newspaper in 1967-68, warned of the impending judgement that was to befall Memphis and he called for peace and harmony among the races.  The warning wasn't heeded and April 04, 1968 the gunshot that felled Dr. Martin Luther King was heard around the world.

Reverend Rodgers graduated Summa Cum Laude from Trinity Bible College in Newburg, Indiana earning a Bachelor of Biblical Studies.  He earned a Master's Degree in Systematic Theology from Trinity Theological Seminary, graduating Summa Cum Laude, also a Master of Theology degree from Bethany Theological Seminary in Dothan, Alabama, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  He is now a candidate for a Ph.D. in Theology at Trinity Theological Seminary.

A third generation minister of his family, Reverend Rodgers was ordained in 1961 under Bishop A.B. McEwen.  He has served on many boards in COGIC, including the board of Tennessee's Fifth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.  In 1992-93 he was cited in Oxford's, Who's Who, an elite registry of extraordinary professionals.

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal..
